Old Town Brewing Co. has been a prominent player in the craft beer movement since they started brewing in 2011. The focus was to promote the spirit of the northwest while portraying a sense of quality. Each bottle tells a story and was designed to be unique and engaging.
Our work with Old Town goes incredibly deep; including a full identity rebrand, packaging, web design, retail, and much more. The goal with this partnership is to evoke a sense of Northwest quality and the adventure found within craft beer enthusiasts.
A place to showcase the city I love.
As a designer, branding yourself is an altogether exciting and challenging task. With my own identity, the difficulties were found in narrowing down ideas and keep things as simple as possible.
The final result represents the three areas of focus I can produce well: Design, Illustration, and Creative - each illustrated with its own corresponding symbol.
Allegiance Ales & Lagers
Identity work for a small batch brewery located down in Southern California. The concept behind the branding is utilizing a very monarchical feeling to the style brought out with a shield, bankers, custom black lettering and badges. The overall edifice is very sharp, clean and structured, with a feeling of strong heritage.
When attacking the can design, we knew we wanted to keep the strong, almost sovereign feeling throughout. The use of shapes remain present in the build of the can, with clean angles and lines give the subtle illusion of a shield in the negative space of the white, without taking away from the pronounced logo and branding. It's simple and memorable.

Normal Pediatric Densitry
Norcal Pediatric Dentistry has deep roots in their Northern California surroundings. They've built a genuine community tied within the location of their dentistry and when it came time to brand it, they wanted their home to play a big role.
They came to me looking for something simple and clean, but still able to tie in the key focus points they had: Dentistry, Northern California, Outdoors, Fun, Kid and parent-oriented. Through my research, it seemed like there was a dividing line between pediatric and adult dentistries and few attempts to find a common ground between the two.
The final result leaves us with an icon mark made from a friendly-shaped tooth with a forest tree punched out utilizing the negative space from the roots. Fully custom type was made, built from the curvatures and roundness of the tooth and designed to feel youthful but also professional. Norcal's main office has their set of iconic rainbow flags strung about the ceiling so we incorporated them into the final mark by use of soft gradient and simple shapes to help maintain a level of professionalism.
